Hi There! I'm Jenny and this blog followed the every day life of a mommy. But not just any mommy... My Brady!. He is my world and the reason I wake up each morning. He is a beautiful little man with such a love for life. He has been a fighter from day 1. In March 2009 when Brady was 5 months old he was diagnosed with Infantile Spasms and our life has been a roller coaster ever since. Brady is proof of God's love and miracles and I am truely blessed that God chose me to be his mommy.
I am also into organizing and crafty things. I am pretty much in overdrive all the time. I am a planner and a firm believer that everyting should have a place. I love holidays (any one) and I am even more excited to make each holiday special for my little man. I am a pretty positive person. I know that God has a plan (he is a planner, like myself) I just like knowing what it is!
God is good, All the time!
Depakote 125mg- Started this when we began to wean off ACTH and spasms came back. So we added this with the ACTH and so far, we are seizure free! No bad side effects, just small tremors that look like he's got a chill.
Phenobarbital 32.4mg 2x daily- started when he was first diagnosed with IS. Was stopped when we started Depakote.
Topamax 15mg 3x daily- Was added while he was on the ACTH to help with partial onset seizures. Was stopped when we started Depakote.
Kelonipin 0.125mg- was tried when he wouldnt sleep. But it had him up twitching all night. Was stopped after 1 use.
Chloral Hydrate 500mg- was given when Kelonipin did not help with sleep. He took this for a week to get him back on a sleeping schedule. It worked like a charm the second go round.
Levocarnitine 100mg 2ml 3x daily- started at 4 days old for a carnitine deficiency. Was increased when we started the Depakote.
Zantac 15mg- was given along with ACTH to aid in prevention of gastric ulcers. Changed to Prevacid.
Prevacid-Started when we stopped zantac. Continued successfully throughout ACTH treatment.
Hydrocortizine 5mg- started at 4 days old for hyperglycemia. At 3 days old his blood sugar was a 12. We stopped it when we stopped ACTH and blood sugars normalized.
Hydrochlorohiazide 25mg- started toward the end of the ACTH treatment for high BP. Was stopped after ACTH stopped.
and, of course, ACTH (Acthar gel) 80 units per ml- 4 months of injections. After 3 months we began weaning when the spasms came back. So we went back up on the dose for 2 weeks then weaned again this time adding Depakote and stopping Phenobarb and Topamax. He has been spasm free since the early morning of June 10, 2009!
